If I read the paper correctly the banks were also instructed to only base their assumptions on "cash flow" losses - customers not paying loan payments - and not included any mark to market calculations in there loss scenarios. Did I read that correctly?

Clint, some. But not enough to account for the disparity, and remember, my figure only accounts for RMBS - credit cards are a huge problem in terms of loss severity because of their unsecured nature even though the gross size is much smaller. Then you have commercial, C&I, etc. ---------- I used to play flute; I wonder if I can play a fife? Guy on CNBC was negative bearish earlier - he was quickly taken off stage and harshly scolded for not singing the right tune - he later reappeared and apologized for being bearish and admitted that he is really bullish. I think he was also told that he would not be back.

How long can the charades continue before the whole thing falls down? How long can Ben eat his tail? Maybe the cost of the flu pandemic in the next 2 months will topple it.

Looks like options traders are betting the **** is going to hit the fan soon. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=2.... Definitely glad I finally liquidated my IRA and taxable accounts and moved into cash after that 30% run up the past 60 days. Great sum-up of the piece of **** report Gen! Like I said, they rolled dice on the result for each and numbers were adjusted accordingly. The renegotiation probably was a chance to throw dice and affect the other banks result negatively. BoA was gangbanged by the others, but it was all in good fun and jest. After all it is politially unacceptable that this recession doesn't end right now. We have important bridges to build and CO2 and cows to tax. Last modified:

Nice analysis, as always - it's in the pigmen's best interest to not have our financial system collapse - so they will put out the most outlandish propaganda possible to get the sheeple to buy into the "recovery". If this somehow works for a few more years, it will be amazing. They've been fleecing the sheeple for decades, so why won't they be able to pull some more wool over our eyes. When the consumer no longer has any money to spend, this charade will end badly for the sheeple. Unfortunately the pigmen will all be safe on their remote tropical islands. It is amazing that a small amount of truly wealthy corporations can control the sheeple so easily, just give them some TV, booze, and the occasional 3 day weekend, don't worry, we've got everything under control.

10% Poo for the "more serious" scenario. We're at 9% now, and oh by the way, their 10% is a REAL 10% jobless. If you look at U-6, which is the closest to REAL, we're WAY beyond that today. Like I said the problem is the projected losses. They're fanciful wishes and dreams in most categories, unless you're cherry-picking the bank - all the nations of course have exposure that is more-or-less population-density weighted with a few exceptions (e.g. Wells is WAY overweight California exposure, for example.) ---------- I used to play flute; I wonder if I can play a fife? Maybe I need new glasses, but in reading through the SCAP, not once did I see a reference to CDS. Did I miss it? The CDS issue won't go away, now it's rearing it's fugly head through emerging market debt. see http://blogs.ft.com/maverecon/2009/05/de.... and DB's current EM CDS spreads http://www.dbresearch.com/servlet/reweb2.... I just need the ISDA data on the CDS outstandings to overlap with the EM credits that are tanking. 2009-05-08 12:38:09
